It is already level 20, no evolution. That makes it normal or "elder" (no bonuses or penalties).

Since it starts at level 20, it doesn't change.

Just keep capping it till you get the one you like.

Unlike the Black Widows, Black Moas don't have evolutions. Black Moa is Black Moa is Black Moa. It won't ever be Hearty or Dire.

How can you tell what it does then?

I was considering getting the Black Moa with my rather comedic storage ranger: Amazing Storage Bob.... but now it is revealed that pets can be different from each other I'm curious as to how different they can actually be....

[And furthermore whether there is any funnier unique pet in the game to have than the Black Moa.]

Ok thanks everyone .

I was hoping you could choose what profession you can get like the spiders, because it's not that hard quest to do, but spider is if you dont know anyone to help you

In Nightfall you can get a Pink Flamingo or a rat.

Here are all the pets you can get:

I think the Black Moa is the coolest in style, as its legendary throughout all of the campaigns.

I think the Black Moa is the only pet that is actually recognized by NPCs anywhere in the game. (take it outside the sunspear great hall)

This thread is slightly old (oh well) but I have a question pertaining to it. I could have sworn my friend's Black Moa was a "Hearty Black Moa" And I've been using Enraged Lunge build on my Black Moa a LOT lately (pure damage, 100+ dmg each time I hit Enraged Lunge) and it's still titleless. Does this mean it's already Dire or what? Because I'm not seeing a change in the name.

Pets evolve as they level up and Black Moas are level 20 when charmed so there is no room for them to evolve. I thought they were all elder (aka normal) but could be wrong about that.

Mine just said "Black Moa" before I renamed it to Studly.

As it was already stated in the thread - Black Moas are level 20 when you get them. They don't evolve. They are neither dire nor hearty. They are Elder.

The Black Moa is Elder. When you Charm it, it just says Black Moa, but I renamed mine and then defaulted the name and it said Elder Black Moa.

Of course, I've only charmed one with one character, so I can't comment on the consistency of the evolution.
